The New Cross of Jesus Christ – Special Sale 50% Off

In 2012 a survey was taken and reported that 75% of Americans claim to be Christians. There are over
320,000 Christian churches in America. There are 2,400 Christian radio stations and 100 Christian
television channels. According to Barna Research the vast majority of households own at least one Bible. If
those statistics are correct why isn’t the Christian church making an impact on this nation?  The United
States is rapidly becoming a godless, corrupt and amoral society.  It is clear that America has lost all fear of
God.  Has the gospel of Jesus Christ changed? Has the cross of Christ lost its power? Is the Bible no longer
taken seriously or even relevant? Could it be that the Christian church has lost its reverence, awe and fear
of a Holy God?  A.W. Tozer (1897-1963) wrote, “The cross of popular evangelism is not the cross of the New
Testament.  It is rather a new bright ornament upon the bosom of a self-assured and carnal Christianity.
The old cross condemned, the new cross amuses.  The old cross destroyed confidence in the flesh, the new
encourages.”
From our pulpits today are we hearing words like improving one’s self-esteem, increasing self-
confidence, self-importance, best days of your life are now and you can fulfill all your goals and dreams?  Do
you hear words like turning from sin, repentance, taking up your cross, sacrificing and suffering for Christ?
In 1 Peter 2:21, “To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you leaving you an example that you
should follow in His step.” Millions of Christians around the world are being persecuted like never before.
Because these Christians refuse to deny Christ, they are willing to be disowned by their own family, lose
jobs, beaten, imprisoned and even killed.  The question is, are we as Christians willing to suffer for Jesus
Christ?  John 14:18, “If the world hates you keep in mind it hated me first.”   Matthew 10:22, “You will be
hated by everyone because of my name. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.”  The Christian
life is not a popularity contest.  What does it mean to totally surrender to Christ, and what is the cost?  Luke
14:26-27, “If anyone comes to Me and does not hate (love less) his father and mother, his wife and children,
brothers and sisters, yes, even his own life, he cannot be my disciple.” And in Luke 9:24, “For he who wants
to save his life will lose it but whoever loses their life for Me will save it.”
This was written in the love of Jesus Christ.  My heart grieves for Christians who are sitting under
pastors and teachers who only proclaim the mercy, grace and love of Jesus Christ, and rightly they should.
But are they also proclaiming the full counsel of the Word of God?  In Philippians 2:12, “… continue to work
out your salvation with fear and trembling.” 1 Peter 1:17, “… conduct yourselves throughout your time of
your stay here with fear.”  As Christians should we not hate sin as much as God hates sin.  My prayer for my
brothers and sisters in Christ that you be baptized in the Holy Spirit. It would be a baptism of the love of
Jesus Christ in your heart. A baptism of the power of God in your life. A baptism of boldness to proclaim
Christ crucified, to a lost, hurting and dying world. And a baptism of praise that comes not only from our lips,
but from our hearts that cannot be contained. Then we will realize the Christian walk is not about ourselves,
but about Jesus Christ alone that He may receive all the praise, glory, honor and worship all the days of our
lives.
